FoE Mission |

What FoE is all about, you ask? The abridged version is…most of us have been together for over 6 years now. The fundamental basis of FoE is that we are all friends first and foremost. FoE has long been a community of friends, this is where it differs from many other clans and communities (we are NOT a clan). While most try to be what they say they are, we are one of the genuine articles. I guess you may ask where all this is going?
Well here it is…
FoE is an open community of hand picked people these are the people you see wear a TAG (the TAG is also a choice not a requirement) it’s an open community of hardcore gamers, and deep friendships. You see one of the reasons it’s been so successful is because we bridged the gap between the game and real life…something many others have tried and failed to do. I’m not saying this to toot our horn because it’s a fact not hype, and anyone who knows will tell you the same. The people who make up FoE are free to come and go as they please (some don’t even game anymore but just stick around to chat and keep up with friends). We have never asked someone to join FoE, because you don’t join a friendship you become a friend (it’s really that simple). We have no rules of participation, the FoE choose who will be FoE as a group (usually the person who becomes FoE doesn’t even know). Also we have no rules about TAGs other than if you aren’t FoE don’t wear one, if you are FoE you can wear it or not, we could give a shit. It is up to the individual person how, and in what way they choose to participate (if at all) to FoE just like a real friendship. We have people from many communities, clans and walks of life who make up FoE, we look at it like this, you have free will to be part of as many clans and communities as you want. We don’t go around trying to “poach” people from where they are (if in fact such a juvenile thing could be done). We aren’t the “clan police” we do this for fun! NOT politics and drama.
We welcome all our friends and affiliates to…
Join us in game, and on our forums (new people are always welcome). We have all been very fortunate to have the honor and privilege of meeting some great people through this community and in game. We believe that this is what gives strength to communities like FoE. There are over 69 people in FoE; over half are active any given night, all FoE from various clans, communities and walks of life. And that my friends is where the magic lies, in the people who choose to be part of it.
So I guess to answer your next possible question more directly…
FoE is something you become, not something you join like a clan. I hope all this makes sense to you. Anyhow the best way to start your way to becoming FoE (if you so decide) is to get on our forums and let the FoE get to know you a bit. Also join us in game (we play almost every night) and show us you want to be part of what we have. We don’t judge people by skills; those come with enough playtime. We judge people by attitude and whether they fit in with our way of thinking, not for the amount they post on forums or play games. We play games for fun, and to enjoy each other’s friendship and company. I have been the benefactor of meeting some great people through simply doing something I love. We invite you to do the same ENJOY!

GOG Enter Closed Public Beta |

Good Old Games, brought to you by the good people at CD Projekt (Witcher, STALKER, etc.) is entering closed beta as of today. For those of you not aware, they are basically going back to 80s/90s era games, bringing them back with full after-market support for WinXP and Vista, as well as pushing for recognition and pooling of community contributions (unofficial patches and mods, that you old-school guys should be more than used to). Currently, they have access to the catalogs of Interplay and Codemasters, and possibly more (They seem to be REALLY enthused on playing TIE Fighter vs. X-Wing). Oh, and all the games are $6-$10, and are 100% DRM-free. No online authentication, no limited downloads, nothing. If it's on your account, you can download it on as many machines as you want to, whenever you want to. Those of you interested should sign up now, especially as there may be a free game or something involved. For more info, check out this Shacknews interview.

Rep Added |

You will now notice "Reputation" by your names. Everyone can increase or decrease another's rep. Simply click on the + or - images, and you will be taken to a page where you will be asked to comment on the person. You can give a reason for the change, or just leave it blank. Choice is yours. So when someone posts something worth while, increase their rep. If it is a worthless post, decrease it. There are a few bugs that are still being worked out, but the system works well enough.
